David Dhawan Clarifies On Reports Of A Fallout With Vashu Bhagnani Over Coolie No. 1 Remake
A while ago, rumors were rife that director David Dhawan and producer Vashu Bhagnani are fighting over the casting of Coolie No 1 remake which stars Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. It was reported, Vashu wanted his son Jackky Bhagnani to play the lead role in the reboot, instead of David's son Varun Dhawan. However, in an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, the director clarified it and said that there are no differences between them.

David was quoted saying, "There are absolutely no differences between us. Vashu and I have known one another for more than 25 years. We've always been on the same page."

Talking about the remake of the film, he said, "When we do something like this the idea is that the essence has to be the same. But at the same time, the film is completely different. It is not a remake, it is an adaptation. But the title is the same."

Together David and Vashu have delivered blockbusters like Hero No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Biwi No 1. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will be stepping into Govinda and Karisma Kapoor's shoes. The film is been shot in Bangkok which will be followed by a schedule in Goa.

One of the many reports states that the makers have decided to release the film on Labour Day as it revolves around a coolie and his profession. Hence, Coolie No. 1 will hit the screens on May 1, 2020.
